The 8822 template is a one that is used by taxpayers who change their address and need to notify the IRS about the move. If the taxpayer is a business owner and the address change relates to the business, the person responsible for managing the business’s registration and taxes should submit the 8822-B blank.

When to Use Form 8822-B?

The 8822-B sample is used by businesses to notify the IRS about an official address change. This template is particularly important for accountants, operational managers, attorneys, or anyone else responsible for managing a business’s documentation with the government. In addition, use this template to reassign the responsible person for a business. It’s very important that any change of address or responsible person be submitted to the Internal Revenue Service using this form not more than 60 days after the change(s) were made.

Where to Send Form 8822-B?

The blank must be filled out and sent to the Internal Revenue Service. This particular template has to be sent separately from the other documents you regularly send to the IRS. Currently, taxpayers can’t e-file it, however, it’s possible to complete it online, print out, and deliver it via paper mail. Where you submit your blank depends on the state and entity’s registration. If mailing it, send it to Cincinnati or to Ogden.

Who Signs 8822-B IRS Form?

The completed sample should be signed by an owner or a representative of the business before it’s sent to the Internal Revenue Service. In case the blank is signed by the representative, make sure that you attach a copy of the Power of Attorney.
